All Kundalini Yoga streams like Siddha Yoga, Shiva Yoga, Kriya Yoga, etc. puts a lot of significance on Diksha, as the aspirant needs support of an experienced practitioner to align the inner energy currents, and to invert the energy flow upwards (Urdhva Gati) to make progress. The Guru’s Prana Shakti is used in bringing the necessary change in aspirant. This is performed in proximity with the aspirant, and is done after a set of energy cleansing and focus steps, which require specific preparatory practices to be done by aspirant, including dietary restrictions on the day of diksha. This is just an outline of commitment in first diksha intended to invert energy flow.
Awakening the energy for upward movement is only the first step for Siddha Yoga practitioner. The Yoga practitioner will require Diksha at various stages of progress, some specific to his or her needs, and some which are mandatory to see results in practice at a specific stage.
For example,
Thus, Chakra Kriya Diksha is done to enhance results, Maha Vedha Diksha is optional based on aspirant situations, and Samadhi diksha is a mandatory step like first Yoga diksha for energy inversion. Krama diksha ensures the aspirant gets individual guidance to make proper progress.
Unfortunately, majority of modern Gurus either limit to teaching without caring about aspirant’s progress, or awaken the kundalini energy without proper guidance to progress. The net result is physical and emotional issues faced by majority of practitioners who mess with inner energy alignment due to misguidance. Many Yoga Gurus have started Yoga diksha and Kundalini Activation as an online business or group/individual event, without following any of the requirements considered mandatory in Siddha system.
